Stick to your Mission

October 16, 2012

I sat with a friend that I had not spent much time with in the last couple of years. She used to be on our Board and is an amazing woman with incredible wisdom. We talked about how easy it is to lose sight of the reason an organization was founded. During conversation she asked "how has Against the Grain kept with the original vision?" I knew we had stuck pretty closely to our original vision but thought I would go back and look at the founding documents. Here is what I found.

Mission Statement

We are a Bible based evangelistic, discipleship and servant ministry that exists to be used by God to restore the Lordship of Christ in the hearts of His people.

Vision Statement

The vision of AtG is dual in nature:  First, to educate and empower low income individuals and families through the use of spiritual and life skills enhancement programs, second, to charge believers in Christ to boldly live out the gospel in every area of their life.

It is amazing that after 9 1/2 years, we are closer to achieving our Mission and Vision today than we have been at any time.

In the same why the question was posed to me for Against the Grain, I think it is also important to remember who we are and why we are here as individuals. It is to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I pray that you will be willing to evaluate where you are and the courage to make any necessary adjustments.
