Single mothers face the overwhelming task of parenting alone. It is often a thankless job and many of these women are looked down on by society.  6 out of 10 poor children live in single mother families.

71% of high school drop outs and 85% of all youth sitting in prisons grew up in fatherless homes.

These statistics paint a pretty bleak picture but statistics don’t feel pain.

What about the single mother working hard just to make ends meet?

What about the little girl on free and reduced lunch who doesn’t get food when school is out?

What about the little boy who wants attention, but his mom is working two jobs and the gang is the only group that is there?

These are real people, they do feel pain and they are looking for answers.

Where are God’s people in the midst of this pain?

The Bible clearly tells us that pure and faultless religion is to look after the widows and orphans, but what does that mean? It is not as simple as giving away a box of food, paying a light bill or delivering Christmas presents; it is so much more than that. It builds relationships, it cares for them, it speaks to their heart, it meets their needs, it feels their pain, instructs them in life and points them to God.

Advancing the Gospel (AtG) was founded in 2003 to help single mothers achieve their God-given potential. Over the last 15 years, the 180 Program has been developed as a life changing, discipleship bible study series, which equips the women to overcome the unique struggles faced by single mothers.
