2012 is off to a good start

March 12, 2012

We have had an incredible beginning to 2012. There have been 151 students so far in the 180 Program. It is amazing to see God continuing to open doors and using the 180 Program to break negative cycles and allow people to live productive lives. The Study Buddy Program is currently providing 25.5 hours of tutoring each week...that's an average of just over 5 hours of tutoring every day in FSSD.

We have also had opportunities to do some traveling this year and share the story of Against the Grain and meet with potential partners. Rob and Meredith had the privilege of spending a few days at Emmanuel Christian Seminary where Rob taught the Chapel service, they met with student groups and had one-on=one meetings with students. They also had the opportunity to meet with a church that is interested in receiving AtG's Understanding Poverty training and is looking to begin offering the 180 Program in their area.

After the trip to Johnson City, the trip continued to Grand Rapids, MI with a training of 9 new volunteers for the 180 Program offered by Alpha Women's Center, a meeting with the Kent County Jail - which turned into an offer of timeslots to offer the 180 Program to the women incarcerated there. There were additional meetings with potential partners and the trip ended with Rob speaking at Alpha Women's Center's spring banquet. It was an incredible trip and we look forward to so many new opportunities to spread the work of AtG.
