180 Program Grows But Needs Partners Rob

collapse post

During a bad economy, it is often the marginalized who feel the worst of it and this current economy is no different.  We have had a tremendous increase in calls from women who are asking for assistance and for training.  Just in the last 2 weeks we have had 4 new mothers join the program, determined to work towards a brighter future.  These women have taken the first step to put their lives back together.
Another truth about a bad economy is this, while the calls for assistance increase, the funds to support the work decrease and once again, this current economy is no different.  Giving, to support the work of training these women to transform their lives, is down 53.2% compared to budget.  Amazingly enough, we are keeping the doors open and still providing services.  We entered this year prepared to weather this storm and have made additional changes as our reserves have been consistently shrinking.  We have reduced spending in many creative ways and have even reduced the size of the offices to decrease our monthly burden.  But the sad reality is that we are still running a deficit of nearly $6,000 per month.   Our greatest need at this time is for monthly partners to provide stability.  If you are able to help with even a small gift of $10 per month, it can go a long way.  Please click on the "Donate Now" tab above and join us in this work.  By partnering with Against the Grain, you can make a difference and be a part of the solution.
