collapse post

AtG's inclement weather policy is to cancel classes if either Williamson County or Franklin Special School District are closed.  Both districts closed today so we will not have the 180 class at the AtG offices this evening.

First Week Back Rob

collapse post

Christmas Break is finally over and classes got started back this week.  We had all the girls from last semester back plus 6 new moms for this semester.  It was an awesome week.  Earlier this month a group from The Journey Church volunteered their time and resources to completely update a trailer for one of our moms.  It was like Extreme Makeover - Trailer Edition.  This mother had been unable to get housng and now she has her own place!  What an amazing blessing to her.  Below are pictures of the Thursday night class…it was awesome.
Picture 1 is from the dinner before class and the second is from class.

Congratulations Shareta Wade Rob

collapse post

It is so interesting seeing the transformation process that the moms go through.  They often take two steps forward and one step back and often they take several steps backwards all at once.  It has been an up and down journey for Shareta as she began to gain confidence in herself and believe that she could achieve great things in her life.  On Friday, December 12, Shareta graduated from Kaplan Institute with a degree as a Medical Office Specialist.  She had several hurdles to overcome as she went to school; child care, transportation and financial…but she overcame them all.

Shareta is the first one in her family to graduate from college and is setting and incredible example for her children.  Research shows that the best indicator of a child's education is the education attained by the mother.  She is changing the legacy of her family and the expectations for her children.

Today, Shareta is the Office Manager and Personal Assistant for an adult day care center.  Congratulations Shareta.
