A Mother “MAKING IT” And Going On To A Medical Career! Rob
I just got a call from Shareta (she is the first single mother we ever worked with and the inspiration for AtG). She has continued to work with AtG and is our best recruiter. To set this up you need to know that Shareta dropped out of high school in 10th grade and has tried for the last several years to get her G.E.D. She studies the materials and does very well on the pre-test, but every time she sits for the actual exam she freezes. She has tried 8 or 9 times but gets a mental block and just can't seem to get past that test. So we began to look for other avenues for her to get additional education. We found Kaplan Career Institute. They would allow her to take an entrance exam and if she passed that exam, she was in. As of this morning, SHARETA WILL BE ATTENDING COLLEGE!!! She will be getting a degree as a Medical Office Specialist. She is the first one in her family to go to college. I wish you all could have heard her voice when she called…it was incredible. She has hope and is finally going to begin to fulfill her dream. She is an awesome women who is overcoming her bad choices…one day at a time.
